Football
for many is portrayed upon us via the media. Whether it's sports
magazines, televisions programs, the radio or the tabloids. The
press and professional determine how we perceive football as an
audience. The newspaper here at Soccer All Stars is the first place
to publish all the big news stories as they happen as well as
generating it's own amount of fuss throughout the league through
exaggerated or inaccurate articles!
SMUTOV UNHAPPY
LEEDS BOSS WANTS STRONGER LINKS
Leeds
United manager Martin Smutov has once again blasted the way the
Soccer All Stars Executive Board have left clubs, managers and
fans alike in the dark over details on how the league is run,
including changes that are to be made for Season Three/S3.
The Leeds manager is unhappy after the announcement of player
wages and signing-on-fee's and wants assurances from the Soccer
All Stars Executive Board that something is going to be done,
before they are crippled.
It has prompted Smutov to plan a massive clear-out to ensure his
side do not fall foul to the crisis that could eventually bankrupt
some of the country's finest sides. With a host of top
quality players, including international stars like Steve
McManaman and Nicolas Anelka, both thought to be earning up to £60,000 per week in wages
at the club, it's no wonder that Smutov is obviously concerned.
He is also unhappy with the way the Executive Board have handled
certain situations, including managers voicing their
opinion. It's thought that he is furious with the Executive
Board's decision to ban Marco Sousa from management until the
end-of-the-season, for merely speaking his mind. He stated
in an exclusive column that the Soccer All Stars Executive Board
that managers are "forced to be quiet" otherwise they
face punishment.
However, Soccer All Stars hit back to Smutov's claims, insisting
they will not tolerate such abuse. An official statement
from ScreamKing read: "We can understand certain people
raising their eyebrows, but how can anyone, including Mr. Smutov
himself, comment on such a letter when they have no idea of the
letters contents, other than the statement we made
yesterday." He also went on to say: "If
managers conduct themselves in an orderly manner, and ask
questions in a polite tone, they will not face punishment at all,
far from it."
Smutov though has called once again for a Managers Union, which
would be "representatives of SAS" and would consist of a body of managers, including the banned
Marco Sousa, where other managers can openly discuss topics, which
are then presented to the Executive Board for review.
Smutov, who eliminated himself from being involved after claiming
the Executive Board were "sick and tired" of him put
forward other potential candidates including Ipswich Town's
Anipalat, Southampton's Drazen Relzic, Manchester United's Mr. CJS
and Nottingham Forest's Christian Hjulsgaard.
ScreamKing though once again rejected this move. He
said: "It seems as though every time something crops up,
so does this Union idea. We have already made a stand
against this idea, but that does not mean we don't like it."
The Development Director went on to say that a Managers Union
would be too much hassle in the long run, prompting other managers
to suggest the Board will be biased towards members of the Union,
or that the Union itself will be biased towards other managers.
"There are just too many complications and it will not be
happening" said ScreamKing. The Executive Board though
are thought to be pleased that managers are trying to find
alternatives, and better ways of communicating with the Board.
Smutov who blasted the lack of communication, especially over the
player wage crisis was extremely critical of the Board on this
occasion. ScreamKing though defended the Board's decision to
keep their negotiations private. He said: "We
have stated on more than one occasion, that we are going as fast
as possible. It is not worth announcing something that is in
negotiations and liable to collapse. We have always stated
that once we have something solid to go on, we would then announce
our plans immediately."
He also stated that he felt "sympathy for all clubs
involved" and that it was "not easy for anyone."
The Executive Board have openly admitted that communication levels
are sometimes poor, and that they are doing all they can to ensure
this is better during Season Three/S3.
Smutov though continued his onslaught after a proposed move
collapsed when he exceeded the three player limit in the
deal. The Leeds United manager was upset with the Board's
apology, obviously seeking something better for his frustrations.
ScreamKing though once again defended the Board's running of the
game. He said: "We have already made an apology
and that is how it stands. The Transfer Form issued to
managers has one slot for a player, and two slots for
part-exchanges. We did assume that this will self explanatory,
but obviously it wasn't." He also went on to say that
the transfer system would undertake slight modifications next
season, and that the Transfer Form issued to managers will be
"greatly improved".
It's believed that the Executive Board are looking to make further
announcements on the topic within the next week or so and had
"a number of exciting enhancements" for Season Three/S3.
